Two-Designer Timeline

Background

The purpose of this project was to focus on connections, influence, and context in relation to two graphic designers and their work. We were assigned a graphic designer of the 20th century and chose a contemporary one as our second subject. The result is an accordion publication with 3 parts of of information: the first designer’s work/life, the second designer’s work/life, and artistic and historical context in which these designers worked.

My assigned artist was Varvara Stepanova, a Russian constructivist designer, and I chose Kashiwa Sato, a Japanese designer. Each page is 6" x 6" and the final product is 24' long accordion booklet.
