Project 1: Functional Packaging Design
In this project, we were tasked to design packaging for a transition. Because I like to read, I thought about how when you buy a book, you aren't typically given a bag. If you are, it is plastic. I designed and constructed this bag, intended to have a second life post-purchase. Following instructions on a card I designed, you can cut the bag down into a book jacket (all three standard paperback sizes) & a bookmark.
Project 2: Sustainable Packaging Design System
This assignment was to take an existing product found in a grocery or drugstore, under $20, and re-design the packaging to enhance the function and make it more sustainable than the original. I chose flour, looking to make packaging that better reflects the nature of flour. I used a long-grain japanese paper, which is strong and durable, but soft to the touch.
